MICHELLE WRIGHT

Michelle Wright anchors WTAE Action News This Morning in Pittsburgh and writes and reports on a variety of topics with a heavy focus on medical news. Michelle has reported live from the scene on the region's biggest news stories including: The Flight 93 crash in Shanksville on 9/11, the Quecreek Mine rescue, and the G-20 Summit. 

Michelle co-founded the workshop Is TV For You which is an all day seminar for students.  She also hosts workshops for businesses in conjunction with her workbooks How To Get on TV The Wright Way, Dealing With Criticism and The Value of Communication.  She is also a contributing reporter for WQED public television,  an adjunct professor at Point Park University,  and an adjunct professor at La Roche College.

Michelle began her career at WSET in Lynchburg, Virginia as an associate producer.  Michelle then became the Roanoke Bureau Chief before being promoted to anchor and executive producer there and eventually moving to Pittsburgh's WTAE.  

Michelle's position has allowed her to develop positive relationships with some of the world's most fascinating people such as: Oprah Winfrey, Sidney Crosby, Peter Jennings, Arnold Palmer, Dan Rooney, Barbara Bush, Troy Polamalu, President Jimmy Carter,  Mikhail Gorbachev, Teresa Heinz Kerry, Jerry Falwell,  Israeli leader Benjamin Netanyahu, Nick Nolte,  Jodie Foster, Rosalynn Carter,  Duchess of York Sarah Ferguson, and Space Shuttle commander astronaut Michael Fincke. 

Not only has Western Pennsylvania come to know and trust Michelle for her anchoring and health reporting but also for her participation in many charitable events. In addition to emceeing countless fundraisers and award galas, Michelle serves as the media spokesperson or emcee for Race for the Cure, Project Bundle Up, Fayette County Health Fair, The Emmaus Community, National Alliance for Mental Health (NAMI), the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, and Achieva. Michelle is a member of Women in Film and Media, Pittsburgh Professional Women, and The Association for Health Care Journalists. 

Michelle has been honored with three Regional Emmy Awards, a National Headliners Award, an Edward R. Murrow Award, named among Pittsburgh's 50 Finest, received numerous honors from the Associated Press and the Pennsylvania Association of Broadcasting,  honored as the  2013 Journalist of the Year from Gladys Magazine,  a 2012 MORE Award winner, a 2010  Woman of Distinction recipient, and a 2011 recipient of the SWPA Media and Mental Health Award.
